2010 Hyundai Elantra

Trim: GLS
by nobrayn on 09-13-2013
It's been great!
I bought this car as a commuter vehicle in Vancouver, BC. I've never had any trouble with it. I did a 10,000km trek through the United States this summer and wound up in Montreal, where I don't need a vehicle anymore. The car was great to do a road trip in!

It's fun to drive, and corners nicely with the sport-tuned suspension. I'm glad I got the sport package, for the fog lamps, heated seats, suspension, and upgraded stereo system. As well, the trim kit makes it look a little more sportier than the plain version.

Overall, my only regret is that I didn't lease it, but I had no idea I'd be "done with cars" so quickly after purchasing it!

Not worth the cost
This is a ok car, it looks good and rides smooth, but for 20.000 plus, Its a very basic car with no special features, I don't have an alarm, I don't have cruise control or heated seats or mirrors, or a good sound system etc. I paid a lot with tax coverage etc..This is a ok car but nothing special..It has a lot of room inside that's a bonus and looks good on the outside..I don't recommend this car unless you are 55 plus years old, where things are just plain and simple. I regret buying this new car..

It's a terrific car!
This car is very comfortable and drives very well. It has been used only in the city and has very, very little mileage as it has been driven only by one owner.

Great car
Bought this car new. almost 4 years and 102,000 km later absolutly no problems. We have two kids 13 and 11 who are into sports - no problems fitting a couple of large hockey bags in the trunk. Comfortable drive, even on long trips. Lots of nice extras on it too. Has to be top 3 in its price range. The only down fall is the gas milage. Rarely get 600 kms on a 50 liter tank (low 30's mpg) some city/ mostly highway driving. Would expect more from this type of car. I'd buy another even given the gas milage.

This car is awesome;however, because I have recently had an ankle injury, I am finding it difficult to drive manual transmission. Looking to buy an automatic.

Most reliable car!
I love this car! i love the blue lights on the dashboard and the ECO feature so you can control your fuel economy. The car fills up at $40-$50 for a full tank. LOVE the heated seats and heated side mirrors. Overall Reliable!

THE BEST RIDE EVER
We got the car in June 2007 when our Mechanic told us that we needed to buy a new car or put at least 3000$ on our old car and it mite of been useless because the car would of not last long after the repair. We only had 1 week or 1000KM to buy a new car. We visited many dealers and we almost purchased a Hyundai Elantra 2007 but we decided that we will go in a used vehicle to get more accessory. We visited another Hyundai dealer and we went into the used vehicle department and we fell in love with this beautiful Hyundai Elantra Noble White 2002 GT (Hatchback).
We went on a road test and when I saw we could fit three adults in the back and nobody was complaining about the room space I told myself this is the vehicle that we need.
The only problem that we had in the 5 years is that we had it to change the bearing de roue. We changed all of them and we are still changing them, but other than that it is a great vehicle to drive and we are planning of buying another Hyundai.
Our Elantra with 301 000KM in the odometer we only have a few sensors to change other than that we are happy with our purchase that we did six years ago.

The best in gas
The Elantra received a slight refresh for this year in the form of a new hood, deck lid, front and rear bumpers, grille, headlamps and taillights. Interior revisions include a redesigned instrument cluster, vents, center console and climate controls. The engine has been fitted with continuously variable valve timing, and it is now sold in SULEV or ULEV configurations (depending on the state in which it's purchased) which offer horsepower ratings of 138 and 132, respectively. The base GLS model now offers remote keyless entry as standard equipment, while GT models now have a Kenwood CD/MP3 audio system as standard.

This has been a great and consistent vehicle. I'm very impressed with how low-maintenance this car has been over the 9 or so years that I have owned it. Hyundai has done a great job in making a really reliable product.

Excellent economical car
I have owned a 2003 hyundai elantra for 8 years now and can say I have had zero issues mechanically with this car. It continues to be excellent for fuel economy and has gone on many a road trip. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a reliable daily commuter or first car for a younger driver.

Good Value. One Somewhat Major Issue and a Couple of Minor Issues...
The Good: The interior and exterior styling is great. Fuel economy is fantastic and overall handling is resposive and stable. The entertainment features are good with occasional connectivity problems with my Android phone.

The Not So Good: I find the swept A-pillar design creates a rather large blind spot. I have had a few close calls with pedestrians and other vehicles. This is somewhat exacerbated by the window visors I had installed - They look good but can't say I would recommend them for visibility reasons.

At first I found the electric power assist steering a bit of an issue in windy conditions at highway speeds and had to constantly make steering corrections as the car seemed to track erratically but now I don't notice it.

My steering wheel leatherette peeled but Hyundai was quick to acknowledge the problem and replaced the steering wheel promptly. The outer strip of my passenger seat material sagged a bit causing a fold in the fabric - not a real big issue.

Overall, considering the quality of engineering, fit and finish - I did a LOT of research and comparing different manufacturers and models - I would definitely recommend this vehicle to those seeking reliable, stylish and inexpensive transportation.

Perfect for the everyday car!
This car has served me very well in my everyday life of driving to work, around town and out of town when needed. most of its use is from driving to work five minutes away so it has never driven over a extended length and time and strained at all, hence it remains in very good condition engine wise and visually.

2008 Elantra GLS
When buying a GLS from anyone, look for the audio controls on the steering wheel - if no controls it's not a GLS. The GLS has ABS and 4 wheel disc brakes as well as side curtain airbags - hence the extra $$.

Had mine for 5 years and will keep it for a couple more years. Reliable and solid car.

Great First Car
I purchased this car two years ago and absolutely love it. The car is great for first time owners as it has a great look inside and out. Fuel economy on this vehicle is great; I've never had an issue and I was still entitled to their fuel reimbursement program. The features that you get in the GLS model are AMAZING for the dollar value. Heated front and rear cloth seats, blue tooth, cruise control, satellite radio, sunroof and a sleek interior design. You won't get these features in any other car for the price. I would recommend Hyundai to anyone. They definitely know what to consumer wants!
