2000 Jeep Cherokee

Trim: Classic

Tough look, amazing power, perfect size, but it's not perfect!
This is my favourite vehicle! It looks tough, bold, boxy and classic. It has lots of power and the size is perfect. Not too big, not too small and the height gives good sight & overview compared to sedans/coupes. Doesn't feel cramped for both the driver and passengers, but that really depends on your size. You can fit a tonne of stuff especially with the back seats down. They are fairly easy to work on yourself, especially with the help of YouTube and online forums. I haven't used the 4x4 yet, but Cherokees rival the Wranglers when offroading. Now the bad..
It's old. Components are starting to fail and fixing/replacing parts sometimes spawn new problems. Rust is a big problem with this generation of Cherokees, but mine isn't as bad as others (floors and rockers still good). It runs VERY hot. This is apparently normal, but I still believe that all that heat is no good for long term durability/reliability. There are trucks that have a even bigger engine and it still runs cooler than the Cherokees. Fuel mileage is okay, but bad if you're going from a car like a Honda Civic. Right now I'm getting 15.9 MPG or 450-500KM per tank which is average. I can get a little better with proper and regular maintenance.
Cherokees have a Christmas list of common problems, BEWARE. If you love it as much as I do, bite the bullet with the problems and slowly rebuild/restore it as if it were brand new. Just be prepared to dump a lot of money.

It's a good car
I think it's nice to have a SUV with this size and price. It works well on snow and rain or normal road. It's a good family car with grocery shopping, or travelling because it got a good size trunk to fit your big size baggage. I have 4.0L one so it got enough power to go up hills and stuff. It's very well build.. It's a JEEP!

a bit hard on fuel...BUT I have saved much more because of reliability....better than even a Toyota!
Extremely reliable...driven slow and easy ok on gas....but keep 5kph below speed limit!! Very tough yet smooth in bush , mud , snow, hills the Dana 44/9" difs can NOT be broken...a very stable ride with No lift and 30s...flowmaster cat back and K&N are essential for fuel milage...also the Cam positioning sensor is where earlier models had the distributor and is adjustable to increase KpL...I want a Newer one but Must have the inline 6....it is an amazing engine

Amazing SUV, awful on gas
I've loved this vehicle since the day i got it. Haven't needed to put much work into is and it runs like a dream. The biggest problem is the fuel economy, and the thing rattles like crazy at certain speeds.

Overall very nice vehicle.
This SUV rides and handles very well. It has all the bells and whistles, very comfortable for long trips. Fuel mileage is around 25 MPG on the highway, around 20 in town.
