This was so far the best car I had. safe and reliable and nothing wrong. It has the best speakers and entertainment unit. It runs fast and great and you can be relax in case of accident.

If maintained properly is the perfect car
Very economical and reliable
some parts are to be replaced after 10 t0 15 years such as heater core and throttle body (that can be cleaned up) and you have a great car
The t5 is the best and more reliable with an engine that can last forever.

Someone decided to design this car so that if it recognizes a key that it thinks does not belong to the car start it, it turns off right away. I had several years of bringing it to different mechanics trying to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it. Finally a guy in Tillsonburg simply cleaned the ignition lines or something and I have been able to start it since then!
Other problems: The dashboard squeaks, the driver side window insulation came off so now you can hear the wind and some water leaks in. The back power windows got stuck and wouldn't go up so instead of paying hundreds of dollars to fix, I asked them to just fix them so they don't open. After I'd had the car about a year, the timing belt fell off, ruined the engine and I had to pay 3500 for a completely new engine. When the genius replaced the engine, the air conditioning stopped working. I've paid to try and get to the bottom of it to no avail. Maybe just this car is a particular lemon, but I just think it's bad design.

Since I purchased this car as second used car I only spent $1800 for replacing ABS module other than that nothing major repair needed this car is totally reliable car.

The Volvo s70 is a safe reliable and excellent car to drive. It handles well, has all the luxuries of nice modern car and its very fuel efficient. If maintained properly they last forever.

It has been a great car with very few repairs needed over the 15 years, except for regular maintenance.

14 years of terrific reliability and performance. Still drives better than most new cars. Dealership serviced for first 110 KM plus but just maintained via local mechanics and oil change shops after that. I think these are very well made vehicles and are a standard for others to aspire to. The new volvos are very expensive however and I am not convinced that they are worth the money

the volvo s70 has been an awesome car for me. very dependable, solid vehicle.the only thing I don`t like is when I had to have the heater core changed, the whole dash and console had to come out and it was really expensive..But it does have close to 400,000 km on it and still runs great. I`ve had to change some of the regular parts like the battery, altanater, steering pump,and wheel bearings..I find the handling good, the ride is still solid and smooth..It has more than enough power for a 5 cylinder, it`s quite comforatable and the heated seats are the cats meow...I can honestly say I would definatly buy another volvo..

Very reliable car. With close to 400 000 km this car still drives amazingly with no malfunctions or rust! You can spend most of your savings maintaining this car if you repair through the dealer. Find a good independent mechanic to repair your car and do your research. There are many informative websites out there for Volvo's which can provide insight into any repair and where to source parts. Extremely simple car to work on. Gas mileage in the city is not great (12L/100km) but on the highway it is far better (8L/100KM). Cannot have a better car for snowy weather.

I have owned my car for a few yrs bought it used and have not had to put any real money into it ... I am an a happy owner of the car .. The car is comfortable for both driver and passenger with plenty of leg room in both front and back seat.. The motor is the V5 yas I said V5 . great on gas and oil. The inter seats could be better in the material thats the only real bad thing I can say about the car

Easily repaired and usually only needs it done once, as it ages the plastic becomes brittle so be careful when taking apart and putting back together. Overall it is a great car and if treated well will give many kilometers of service.

I bought this car with 80k on it. This car was extremely reliable and basically only did maintenance. Antennna got stuck in position after 2 yrs. Regular service got quite expensive after 200k.

We've had this since 2000, and it's been an excellent family and single person vehicle. Pack it full, no problem, 2000 km road trip, no problem. With appropriate tires, its an easy handling, comfortable sedan all year round. Now at 269k, still lots of life left. A few repairs coming up but all minor and not repeat fixes. Any good Volvo mechanic will know everything about the tendencies. A very good used buy, even after 12 years ! I expect we'll get 400k out of her!!
