2015 Toyota Highlander

by Swartzy on 03-10-2015
I don't know what people are complaining about!!!
I just purchased a 2015 Limited and absolutely love it!

A couple people have complained about the seats and how uncomfortable they are. That's what test drives are for. ridiculous. Another complained about how thin they are. Obviously not very educated in new vehicle standards. I work in a Toyota manufacturing plant and see new tech and innovation all the time. The seats are made thinner to provide more interior volume and they do not sacrifice comfort or support at all!

The new Highlander is miles ahead of the previous generation in looks, technology, handling, interior materials etc. it is not at all "hard to control" like another person suggested, but an absolute joy to drive. It's quiet, smooth, and great in all weather conditions. Having been a test-driver for the Lexus RX-350, I can honestly say this vehicle is right up there beside the luxury brand (at least the Limited trim)

Now, as I'm trying to give as accurate review as possible, all is not perfect. Agreeing with another reviewer, I was pretty ticked off when I learned that in Canada, you cannot get the entune system (which includes weather, traffic, stocks etc), and that the top trim levels don't come with the Led lights as they do in the US. I really don't think there is any excuse for this so WAKE UP TOYOTA CANADA!!! My other knock would be on the transmission. This is my first Toyota vehicle so for om what I've heard, their powertrains are tried and true however, they need to be updated. The 6 speed auto is ok, and it is tiptronic, but when the vehicle is left in drive and you floor it, the downshifts are painfully slow.....to the point where sometimes it'll downshift just 1 gear, then realize it's not enough so it'll eventually downshift another one.
Those are quite honestly the only negative things I have to say about it. Overall I love it and highly recommend it! Good bang for buck and you're paying for Toyota quality and reliability.

Seats are so uncomfortable - Sold car immediately
Purchased a 2015 Highlander LE. The car drives / handles incredibly well in dry, wet and snow. Very smooth ride. However, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable. Toyota includes Road Side assistance but I think it should be replaced with Chiropractor assistance. The seats are unbelievable stiff. The back does NOT have separate padding for the upper and lower back which leave the lower back completely unsupported. I can NOT last more than 15 seated in the car. I sold the car within 2 weeks. I think I dodged a bullet cause I didn't lose too much money. Too bad Toyota went cheap on their seats. The highlander LE still sells for almost $40,000. There is no excuse for seats to be this uncomfortable. As good as Toyota is, I never want to step foot in one ever again.
