2003 Volvo XC70

Trim: 2.5T AWD
by steven5549 on 07-07-2017
Great Great Car!!
So not my car it's my moms, but I drive it quite a bit when I'm not driving my car and I love it!

So she bought it from the original owner for $1800 with 337,000K and it now has 357,000 and drives great, the transmission still works well, the engine is super reliable and sounds amazing.

The headlights are amazing especially the high-beams... the ride is smooth and you barely feel the bumps, seasons are ultra comfy, sound system is great, the styling I think is timeless, it's also really quiet on the highway, it's quite great on gas too, we use regular and runs fine.

I do have a few "gripes" first; the battery is in the trunk and it's way to complicated to get access too. The leather on the gear selected and e-break rip to easily, the AWD has stopped working but not an issue really.

Problems with the car; there's some electrical issues like when you open the door and sit down the seat will move up to my moms last position and it crushes me between the seat and the wheel, also the drivers side mirror goes all the way in so we always have to reset it. Sunroof doesn't work. Drivers side window broke too.

But overall I'd seriously recommend this car, I'm currently saving for one or a Volvo XC90 (2.5T AWD only) .. I'm 19 and insurance on a 2007 XC70 would only be $140 a month ... my Audi A6 insurance is $241 a month so a hundred dollars difference.

1996 Ford Taurus

Trim: GL wagon

Amazing
Again, not my vehicle but I drove it a lot, ours was a wagon in champagne beige with beige interior, was bought off an elderly lady 8 years ago, it now has 341,000 kilometres, and still drives perfect. Has some rust on it now, but survived well over the years. Comfort is incredible, they don't make them like they used too. Fuel mileage? Poor. Performance? Poor.

Handling was good, styling was beautiful, interior room was great. Here's my biggest pet peeve with it ever. Who the heck designs a 4-6 passenger vehicle and doesn't put cup holders in the back seats? Thanks Ford.

We now finally parked it cause we bought a Volvo, but if I had the money I'd fully restore it, I just love love love the design.

2002 Toyota Highlander

2002 Highlander Limited V6 4WD
I know I haven't had this vehicle very long, about 6 days, but have already driven it almost 3,000 kilometres. Bought it for $6500 it has 276,000 clicks on it! Power seat, leather, heated seats, sunroof, JBL sound system, V6, 4WD, the seats are very very comfortable, on par with my Audi A6.

The V6 (3.0) is a great engine, sounds really good, smooth, quiet, I've driven mostly city and have averaged 19.2 miles per gallon, good acceleration too! Handling is pretty exceptional, though it's no match for my brothers Ford Focus, it gets the job done. Sound system is eat, air conditioning is good, I would say if you are looking for a reliable family hauler with decent mileage get a highlander. - fantastic headlights at nighttime!

Cons: gear shifter is annoying, and doesn't seem to like reverse. Build quality (dash and door panels) could be better. Would also like volume controls on dash.

Anyways, good vehicle overall.

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Trim: 2LT 25th Anniversary
by steven5549 on 11-19-2015
Not a good vehicle. Ok for students that's about all.
Driven a 2009 cobalt a lot, thought I'd give my Impressions.

Pros; steering wheel look (same one as corvette) Sunroof option.

Cons; seat comfort, radio quality, fit and finish, reliability, power (engine) it's weak. Gas pedal. No back seat room. Recalls. Small gas tank. Handling. Lots of body roll. Paint, surface rust already. Out dated design. Flimsy doors. gauges. No power seats. Handling feels fake.

Overall; as a first car it's OK. Anyone else thinking about buying one? Don't. You'll be majorly disappointed. I'm going to be honest. The car is junk.

2005 Ford Focus

Trim: ZXW
by steven5549 on 11-19-2015
Read, I like it and dislike it. Good first car for kids.
Not my car, but have driven it a lot. Let's start out with saying its a budget car. If you don't want something that's loud, not comfy and poor build quality than don't get it. If you want something that's dirt cheap, peppy, reliable, and good fuel mileage with cheap insurance costs than you want this car.

Pros; it's rather quick for being a 4 cylinder, handles very well nice tight steering, it gets pretty good fuel mileage, it's not as good as let's say a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, but it's good. I love the station wagon design of the car. Looks great. Love the sound of the turn signals. Heated seats. Other than that, there's nothing that stands out.

Cons; 4 speed automatic transmission, very unsupportive seats, not good for long drivers over 2 hours. Very very loud on the highway, like loud to the point where you can't hear the radio. Radio quality is horrendous. Worst I've ever heard. The whole interior is made out of plastic, so expect everything to rattle.
Does not go over bumps well at all, every little bump comes into the cabin of the car, it sounds like you're dropping something on the ground. Just smashes over the bumps.

Arm rests are bad. Interior design is nasty too. Steering wheel is uncomfortable for long trips as well. Doors don't seem solid, they seem light and flimsy. Let's just say when Ford designed this car, it wasn't to be comfortable. Gas peddle is WAY too touchy. Press it too hard and you'll get a speeding ticket.

Overall; budget conscious people ... It's a great car. Picky people like me, don't do it. You'll be disappointed.

2001 Audi A6

Trim: 2.8
by steven5549 on 11-19-2015
Good car
Recently bought a 2001 Audi A6 2.8 Quattro W/ 5 speed automatic, silver with black leather, bought it used for $3500 with 303,000 kilometres!

It's my first luxury car, it rides very nice, handles exceptionally well for a car like this, the engine has 200 horsepower which is okay, though it's no rocket mine averages around 10 seconds to 100 km/h. But it's great for highway merging and passing slower cars. Transmission doesn't shift that smooth though!

Pros; comfy seats, smell of the leather, look of the key, power options, sunroof, all wheel drive, sound system, fit and finish, ride, handling, rear heated seats, trunk space, very quiet, love the side airbag protection. Horn is nice and loud.

Cons; I don't like the power Lombar. I absolutely HATE the dual automatic climate control. Incredibly frustrating. Transmission is not smooth when stopping. If you sit in the car for more than a few minutes without starting it, it will lock and the alarm will go off. Mine has a thing where if you set a speed and go over it, it'll beep at you, dumb. No cooled seats. No memory seat on mine. Fuel economy and premium fuel.

Overall good car, mine only needs O2 sensor ($140.00). If you are new to luxury cars and want to start out, get a Audi A6 older one. Get the 2.8 it's most reliable.

2003 Honda Civic

Trim: DX

Great car all around
I have a 2003 Honda civic , mine is the 4 door beige with the 5 speed manual transmission! I bought mine for $3,000 with 228,000 kilometres, it how has 256,000 kilometres, I used to commute to school and back, which was 120 kilometres a day, very fuel efficient, it has very good handling, it's smooth, pretty quiet inside! Fit and finish is good as well. Not sure what my fuel mileage is, but I can go around 600 or so Km's before filling up. It's great braking performance.

The power Is decent, though it's no race car, it performs well , from 4th gear at 80km/h it goes great for passing vehicles.

Two minor issues, batteries in keyless entry die too quickly, and the latch on the inside for the gas door broke. Other than that it's been great. 256,000km's and there is only a small oil leak. Overall love this vehicle!
