Stylish & Practical meet
The Highlander is stylish while still having everything I need to be practical. With seating for up to 7, I can take my kids and still have space to pack up and hit the road on an adventure and tow my boat!
The Highlander is comfortable, fun to drive and I always feel safe!

Amazing Performance and Comfort
The first month we bought the highlander, we took it across Canada, and it was amazing! The heated seats, power everything, moonroof, backup camera, and handling were just perfect.

Loved it so much, we are getting a 2014 Highlander!

Great Ride
This vehicle has been in our family for over 10 years. The vehicle is comfortable, safe, reliable, and a great size. Not too large yet perfect for short trips and inner city driving (newer highlanders are significantly larger)

Very happy with this vehicle for the whole duration of ownership.

great family car
We've had the car for 5 years and we've never had a problem with it. The brakes, water pump and timing belt have been replaced with original Toyota parts.

The car has been great for us and we hope that someone will love it and take care of it as well as we did. We are only selling the car because my family and I are permanently moving overseas, if not we wouldn't want to depart with it.

2002 Toyota Highlander

by JF1956 on 08-12-2013
Great beginning, terrible ending
I originally purchased this car based on positive word of mouth reviews and generally good feedback from Toyota owners in general (but not for its cutting edge styling or anything like that). In first few years this vehicle drove exceptionally well with little to no mechanical issues, which is exactly what I was expecting. In the last three years, however, pretty much everything under the sun that could have gone wrong with this car has right down to a severe oil sludge issue that I am presently dealing with. With approx 175k km's and an impeccable service and maintenance record, I am truly disappointed that I may need to replace the engine entirely. IMHO, it should have lasted much longer than this. When I was growing up, it was pretty common for cars to run 15-20 yrs without too many issues. After doing a little "after the fact" research online, I was able to find out that this was indeed an issue with many of these vehicles of this particular vintage and that Toyota did indeed deal with this matter very quietly a number of years ago. Unfortunately, I was never contacted or made aware of the issue in a timely enough fashion and am therefore s#!t out of luck (for lack of a better word). Anyway, based on cost estimates from a number of different sources, I am not entirely sure it is worth it to fix this or not.

2003 Toyota Highlander

Trim: B Package
by TGMAuto on 06-27-2013
The Highlander is the original Cross Over and a great family truck.
We purchased our 03 Highlander as a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle in 2007 with 75k Km's. I still cannot get the keys from my wife just to bring it in for service. She loves this truck...she is petite (5') but has no issues being comfortable or seeing as it has great visibility. Lots of room for the kids and their stuff as well.

Of our many Toyotas this one has required the highest $ of maintenance over our six years of ownership but only two issues, a back end tie rod and the window washer pump (easy to do yourself) were non maintenance.

It is a 4 x 4 so it has higher service costs. It also has a timing belt which needs to be replaced every 144,000 km or six years. The oxygen sensors all failed at the same time and they are expensive ($350 x 3) and you must get the oil changed every 5 K with this version of the V6 as it may sludge. It also uses premium gas.

These are not criticisms just the costs of owning a 10 year old 4x4. It drives like the day be bought it and has good pick up when required. It is very good in the snow and feels very sure footed in bad weather. It is also very easy to park and drive in tight spots. Just a really great truck that was ahead of it's time. Will definitely be passed down to our teen drivers without hesitation.

This vehicle handles really well, very smooth driving experience both on highways or the city, it is very quiet and well insulated, I fell driving a Lexus RX 350, it also has a very powerful 6 cylinder engine that is just one of the most reliable engines that Toyota has.

Amazing car to drive. Tons of space for moving large items
FREE lifetime oil changes at Country Hills Toyota and Mayfield Toyota in Edmonton. Yes it is true. I repeat: free lifetime oil changes.

See for yourself. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned.
I've always said, "It runs SMOOTH like butter." It's the Best deal you'll find out there.
There's only one reason why I'm selling: my needs have changed and don't need all that space just for one person. I am happy to say that I have downsized to a 2 door vehicle.

Excellent family vehicle for life in the prairies
Very reliable, comfortable and versatile. Excellent all weather vehicle with the full time 4WD and plenty of power to pass uphill even when fully loaded. Reasonably quiet and very good visibility. Comfortable for long trips for adults and children. Can fit 3 car seats in the back OK and lots of trunk space. Easy to get into and out of, but still has plenty of ground clearance. Would recommend to others and will be buying a newer Highlander to replace it in the future.

Toyota Highlander Highlights
Our Highlander, considering it is a large SUV, is a compact but roomy; it suits are family size. It has comfortable leg room and a sufficient amount of compartments. The Highlander's highway performance is as expected for a V6 engine. Its V6 engine and all-wheel drive are powerful, perfect for dealing with the Canadian weather conditions. Overall we are satisfied and like our Highlander.

The best of both worlds
Having gone for years either driving a car, van, or truck, I took the plunge and purchased an SUV. Choosing the Highlander was hitting the nail on the head! The luxury and ride of a nice car with the convince and pulling of a truck. The flexibility to drop down the seats and haul items in the back has been great. Combine it all with Toyota's great service and I can't say I have been anything but impressed
