I have had this model car twice and it is a reliable vehicle. I purchased both for around $2k, and did not put more than $200 into each one over the few years I had them.

I got an Alero to replace my Honda Civic by total fluke. I lucked out as I got car as someone was pretty much giving it away. It runs like a brand new car & I've got only good to speak of it so far.

I have had this car for a year now and I have no complaints at all. it's decent on gas. Has a nice get up and go. it's my second car and I am in love with it. for a car that's over 10 years old it runs smoothly and is amazing.

For the most part I did not have any problems with the major things like engine, transmission, etc.
However, there were definitely some issues with sensors affecting the ABS, wheel bearings. I can't even remember how many times I had this vehicle in the shop for repairs regarding the above mentioned. Thankfully I had purchased the extended warranty because it sure seemed as if I would have paid even more for repairs than the cost of the extended warranty. I had no idea until after I purchased the vehicle. A friend informed me that her brother's car was always in the shop and I believed her after my experience. Maybe they fixed the later models.

Decent car for the price. Gets me where I gotta go. Good on gas as well. Nice smooth drive. Comfortable steering.

I've owned this car now for 9 years and it's been the most reliable car I've owned. I've been lucky in that it's had only one prior driver, and both herself and me do not smoke.I use the car as a way to work and visit friends/family locally in the Durham Oshawa region..so not a lot of travel has happened outside of the GTA..

In the harshest coldest winters my car always starts, excellent battery, I've well maintained it also with regular oil changes. She's a joy to drive, especially being a single girl who needs reliability.

I love that it has so much pep to it, at a stop light its the first to leave the intersection...it's that good...and I say this with no intention of being a speeder...just the smoothness of the car is a joy to drive.

Not good fuel efficiency, but powerful. Some electrical problems. I had to repair fan control, after that it was OK. There was a problem with rear window heater. I fixed by myself,then it is working without problems. I had to changed right front coil for ABS.

This car has been reliable and a good ride. It has more power and pick-up than expected, especially when passing vehicles on the highway.

I had this car built for me and I've enjoyed all 125,000 km that I have put on her. She has been very reliable and fun to drive. The original commercials compared this car to a frog and they were right. She hugs the road like a frog to a lilly pad.
She is roomy and I've used the fold down seats quite a few times for larger items. The track control and ABS have saved me from a couple of accidents.

This car look great, performs great, and it feels like you can drive forever on a single tank of gas! If you're looking for a reliable, smooth, comfortable, and fuel efficient ride then look no further!

I have always known this car to be very dependable, and it has an automatic car starter as well. Always stored in doors and is a guarentee to pass safety and e-test. Great summer and winter car

I know the first owner. car has always had regular oil changes and maintenance. 6cyl. comfortable car to drive.

i have this car for over 3 years its good car never gave me a problem ,i only change breaks and oil change nothing major

I bought this car from my neighbour for my daughter to use only two years ago. She spent a couple months the same year in Vancouver, and moved there this summer. I have a van, and also a car left here from another daughter who moved to Toronto and is NOT selling. I don't have the room, and I don't need an extra vehicle. It is a great buy, and I bought it from my neighbour for the same reason. It drives nice, is easy on gas and insurance cost, and has winter tires too, so it make s a great first car for a young driver.

Never had big issue with this car. Good car for student or winter beater. All the power option still work & the leather seats are in good condition

We have been amazed at how reliable this car is for a domestic sedan. The reasons for the 4 stars in different categories are:

Comfort: only downside is that the middle seat in the back is very stiff as padding is thin there.

Fule Economy: It's a V6, so it's not as efficient as a 4-cyl may be, but still great on gas.

Exterior Styling: It's nice, but nothing crazy. The rear spoiler definitely adds a lot of sportiness to the look, as does the chrome accessories.

Since I have had this car in my possession I have had to do the head gasket, water pump (of which is run off the timing chain, so while your in there you might as well do that too), rebuild the head, and when I got everything back together again, for some reason coolant was puking out of the thermostat housing and at the back of the head. The ignition switch has gone on me twice now and the brakes are on their way out AGAIN. This car has been nothing but a time waster and money pit. It's a 2.4L engine and gutless. So far I have got 25 hours into it and as I go to fire it up, the fuel regulator goes on me, so off o the parts store AGAIN!

It is a great car with only regular maintenance over the 10 years that I have had it. It is rated @ 42 miles/gallon. My wife and I have been very satisfied with it and she loved driving it in the winter because it has great traction. This would be a great car for someone who is looking for a winter car

Had the vehicle for 7 years, never had any issue with mechanical aspect or body/paint . Only thing to watch for new buyers, the ignition switch has a security circuit internal to the switch that caused the vehicle to turn off or lose power randomly. The switch was just under $200 and if you are mechanically inclined and possess patience, is simple enough to change.

We really enjoyed our 2 Aleros and were disapointed when Olds stopped making them, otherwise we might have bought another instead of a new truck! This car has been very reliable, service is available everywhere and extremely reasonably priced. This car was not not fancy, but extremely comfortable. Has a great sized trunk and plenty of room for kids and a dog in the back seat. We will really miss it and hope it goes to a good family! Our only complaint is that we have had to replace the front wheel bearings - a typical GM thing!

Alero, Pretty good car. Reliable even though its 13 years old. Its a great starter car. Great on fuel.

i had this car for 5 years it has 300,000 plus killometre's and i recenlty took it to the shop to get sub woofers intalled GREAT car, i am selling it because it is too small im moving out to a farm.

Bought it used; body in great condition, low kilometers - been nothing but good to me. I did have to put some money into fixing the drivers side window, and a door alignment, but otherwise no major problems. A trusty car!

This car is awesome to ride. Having a manual transmission is a great experience. My husband is so proud on having this car, he baby it and make that its always taken care off.
