2005 Volkswagen Phaeton

by SPABDriver on 01-22-2017
An amazing ride
I bought a used 2005 with about 135,000 Kms and have yet to be disappointed.....This car performs extremely well and offers a very comfortable and quiet ride. I agree that new, the R8 would probably be a slightly better deal but as a used offering I have not experienced the cabin noise that other Phaeton owners have commented on. I was critical of the fuel economy because even though a full tank of gas should get me 770 kms it rarely comes close to this milage.

Best commuter car out there
Need a reliable, bullet proof daily driver ? The city Jetta is perfect. Not the most power in the world, but excellent on gas, comfortable and nice fit and finish overall, which is consistent with a german brand.

2014 Volkswagen Passat

Trim: Highline TDI
by G67TDI on 01-13-2017
Excellent Car - Best Mileage ever
I have had my 2014 Passat TDI for over 3 years now. It is an amazing car, both on the highway and in the city.
It has got lots of torque for quick starts and merging in the city, it has a good turning radius, despite being a large car so it is great for parking. It will cruise comfortably on the highway all day.
The interior is spacious and comfortable. Controls are well laid out and easy to use, climate control and heater / defroster / heated seats are awesome.
The best part is the fuel mileage and range. Mileage will vary of course based on how you drive, speed, acceleration and where you drive, city vs highway. Highway mileage ranges from 4.3 l/100 to 5.2 l /100. City is 6.7 to 8. On the highway if I don't drive too fast, I have gotten over 1400km per tank. With normal mixed driving, 1000 km is easy and even city driving in the winter with cold starts and idling etc 800+ is normal.
There are a few things that could be improved: The entertainment and navigation system can be slow responding i.e. start up can vary from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. Since it is linked to the back up camera for the display, this can be frustrating. Usually it is pretty good, but occasionally if is very slow. Apparently there is a recall coming on that according to the dealer. The other thing is don't bother with the navigation system option. Google maps is much better and the pre-loaded maps haven't been updated since 2012. VW still has no updates available!

2011 Volkswagen Jetta

by kmn11 on 11-12-2016
Terrible yet practical
Bought used 2 years ago. Daily driven since.
We can comfortably fit our growing family of 4. Spacious interior and large trunk. Decent fuel economy in the city and great on the highway.

On the downside, the brakes on this car are awful and have a tendency to collect crud from the road when travelling in foul weather. Car typically sounds like it will fall apart under braking for a few days after traveling in bad weather.

Acceleration is virtually non existent on the 2.0 liter engine, which is why it's commonly known as the 2 point slow. Going from 60 to 100 is terrible, regardless of how much you downshift.

Would not buy again

As a person who has driven a lot of VW Golf`s it definately has a nice smooth ride, they are very reliable cars, great on fuel.
They are cars that are reliable efficient. For a car that has a 2.0 litre engine it is probably one of the best cars that has this type of engine & definately beats out the competition

THE PERFECT EVERYDAY FUN CAR
This car is by far the best everyday/ all year round car I have ever driven. Performs well when you need her to. and its spacious and practical. interior quality is nice- engineering top notch, cornering and driving experience is excellent! as long as you have a few bucks extra to pay for gas as I only got avg 480km/tank.

The true car enthusiast car. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who likes car, period!

Spacious, Smooth and with Professional Allure
Smooth ride, great comfort for the city and superb handling for highway driving. Fuel consumption is competitive with all the other cars I've driven in this category. High fuel efficiency both city/highway.

Trunk is deep enough to fit 3 hockey bags. And interior comfortably fits 5 people.

This is my favorite generation of the Jetta's because of its lines and design. I used it to meet with clients and always felt confident driving in with my Jetta.

2000 Volkswagen Jetta

Best Car I've owned
This car is alive and well and still out performs the newer vehicles I've purchased. It's a solid drive and is extremely responsive and handles well. Never rusted after 16 years. I've had new cars rust in only 3 years. If you can find one working well, I'd recommend getting it for a winter beater or just a beater. It's like a trusty appliance that rewards you.

2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Terriffic handling, smooth ride
With its 125 hp it won't beat a Mustang at the lights but the new added gear sure gives it pep over the old City Models and keeps up with any car in its class . After 7 month the motor is now broken in and at 10,000 km it now gives me 5.8/l 100 km on the Highway .My previous was a 2.5 Highline (2006) with Sunroof ,leather, the works. But that didn't have a Rear View Camera as does my Trentline +. The best thing since sliced Breads.
I can only recommend it. to top it off it has the same great handling, cornering, ride for which the Jetta has been known all along.

2007 Volkswagen Rabbit

Trim: Comfortline
by Steve8552 on 06-23-2016
Not fast but bulletproof
We bought ours in 2010 with 44,000 km from Oakville VW. It now has 169,000 km on it and has been very little trouble. The five cylinder engine is not that powerful or fuel efficient and can be noisy when revved above 4000 rpm but most of the time the engine is running at less than 2000 rpm where it is smooth and quiet. This car feels very long legged when cruising on the highway where the engine is only turning at around 1700 rpm. The car is spacious inside and feels like a much lager car. With 169,000 km on the engine it gets through 1 litre of oil every 10,000 km but we change the oil every 10,000 km which is less than the VW recommended interval. Spend a bit extra on routine maintenance to save on major repairs. Services are alternated between Jiffy Lube for just oil and the dealership for other stuff. We've debated selling it but it runs so well its simply not worth it at this stage. I would say to anyone don't fear about buying one with 150,000 km or more on it. Provided it has been well maintained an can see this engine easily lasting 300,000 km or more.

Saved my life
This was my best friends car, although she had a couple issues with it, (The driver door wouldn't shut properly and the trunk wouldn't open. Later her alternator died but that might've just been bc it was old) It saved my life literally. We had a head on collision on the highway at about 100 km/h with a Pt Cruiser and that baby really took it like a champ. 10/10 would ride again.

Love this car
I am a mom of two young sons. I bought this car because I wanted something new and reliable but I was on a budget. This suited our needs as a family far better than any small SUVs that were in the same price range. The trunk space is HUGE and there is plenty of room in the backseat for my kids aged 3 and 5 (1 and 3 at the time of purchase). I drive a manual and it's a super fun ride when the kids aren't with me. Speeds up fast and the rims give it a super cute look. I also have a set of winter tires on separate rims because I live in northern Alberta. I was concerned about the clearance during our sometimes harsh winters, but it has never once failed me. Even though the exterior styling isn't as good as some of the jettas gone by, or even the city jettas, I love this car so much and hope to have it for many years to come.
