the car isnt the quietest or smoothest but when you want to wind around corners and curvy streets it is awesome.

We've had this car for 11 years, and aside from an electrical problem that was draining the battery when the car was not in use it hasn't given us any significant maintenance or performance problems. One of my relatives drives the 2011 Golf, and aside from some bells and whistles there's not much different between them.

I have recently purchased my Golf...its my 1st car. No problems so far. I got it 147,000...the only thing i changed was the timing belt and water pump which havent been done....and one of the oxygen sensors. Thats about it...beautiful ride. I would recommend it to anyone....VW.....Das Auto =]

The 2011 Golf is a great little car for highway and city driving, it is very fuel efficient as well as comfortable. Easy to handle in both winter and summer time

Since I bought it used I might have purchased a lemon. It was great on fuel (being diesel) but the repairs I've had to make on it are the most I've ever had to spend on any car in my life. In the 10 months I've had it I've had to put nearly $4000 in repairs. Mind you, it has over 400000 km on it, but it was mostly highway. The TDI model, which I have is a real pain if the turbo pump goes on it...($2000 for the part alone)...because the seals may go and the oil could mix with the radiator fluid. You could ruin an engine like that. Fortunately my mechanic was able to repair it instead of replacing it. Get the non TDI gas version.

Given the size of the car, there is a tremendous amount of leg room and storage. The car is reliable in almost all weathers and the fuel mileage is amazing (diesel engine).

Of all the cars I've owned this was my favourite. Drives so wonderfully. Very comfortable. Little problems with it. Even back then had great fuel economy.

Over the years I have owned this car it has always been reliable ride. It will perform well in general if not a especially good in any particular one use.

Volkswagens will last forever. The generation 4 stand up so well. Just have to keep on top of repairs and maintenance.

the car is ok, but the VW services has been terrible since day one. The problem with a gas warning light has bothers for 7 years, and VW couldn't fix it. I absolutely will not try VW anymore in my life.

Might not look like much but it performs very well and great on fuel. Although it isn't the best in the winter without winter tires it drives great all through the year.

never let me down and always starts.can carry plenty of cargo and and tow a great amount of weight.the car has a very low maintence cost,fuel economy is really good as well.

Had a 2008 Honda Civic before my Golf and the quality of the VW cripples the offerings from Japanese makes, and i'm not confusing quality with reliability as they are different. Interior materials are top knotch with soft touch materials everywhere. The front seats are like nothing i've even been in, excelllent support and comfort. 5.1 L/100 km at 140km/hour is fantastic. The touch screen radio is great to use and sound quality is fantastic, virtually no distortion what so ever. This car is a joy to drive and the tourqe for zipping around town with the manual transmission is great. I'm stuck on this brand now and will never look at another low grade japanese car again.

volkswagen golf is durable and reliable. can be costly to fix with the price of parts. another downfall is some mechanics wont work on volkswagens.

This car is very reliable, and the fuel economy is amazing. I can't believe how trustworthy this car is. We went to North bay too Toronto and back to North bay and did driving around for 3 days , and did not have to fill the tank up it was under half a tank still and we put $50, its fast and has such a sporty look. The comfort is good. I recommend this car too people who travel to work alot, or travel in general, you can pack alot of stuff in the car if you know how to pack good.

Golf CL 2 Door HB with 1.8L engine. Bought as I was starting the divorce process and I needed economical transport. The original plan was to beat it like a rented mule for a year or two, then move on to something else after it died...
...But it just. Wouldn't. Die.
The MKIII Golfs and Jettas are remarkably easy to work on. In the few years I drove it; I replaced the water pump, thermostat, alternator, and one wheel bearing. Had a little bodywork done as well. The engine had well over 270,000 KM on it when I bought it, and it was nearing 300,000 KM when I sold it. The only real annoyance was the Dynamic Oil Pressure Warning System - a holdover from the Mk II's. TWO sensors on the engine oil circuit monitoring pressure both under AND over the recommended range. Of course, as the engine wear went on, and as the sensors got older, the alarm would trigger more and more often. I finally "fixed" the problem with 10-40 oil mixed 3 to 1 with Lucas Oil Stabiliser.
- Then the head gasket started to leak. I ran the engine without difficulty after a treatment with Rislone Block Seal. Six months after that, I finally sold the heap - still running and without any leaks or alarms going off...

This car has been excellent. I would keep it, but need the space. This car has a great set of rims for the summer and comes with snow tires on winter rims. The windows are all tinted and the vehicle has never had any mechanical issues. We have had it maintained at a local VW mechanic. The service records are all available in required.
We are a growing family and require a little more space for travels.

Its a great car for the city or hwy very quick little car and its great on gas i highly recommend it

Car is very good on gas, handles very well, has good pick up on the highway, the sound system is very clear and doesn't crackle when the music is turned up loud. Very comfortable ride for a compact vehicle and TONS of room when the hatchback and seats are put down. Highly recommend this vehicle!!

I bought this car in 2010 and have loved it ever since. This car is very reliable and i have had no problems with it so far. It is great on gas and is very comfortable. I highly recommend this car.

Great vehicle for its price. Very reliable, excellent gas mileage almost 1000 kms to a tank. You are sure to be happy to drive one. Very comfortable for its size. More than 200ks and still runs like new.

My Golf from the very beginning has been a very reliable, fuel efficient little car. I love its sporty, stylish design and its very roomy trunk. The best part is the back seats can be folded to have more trunk space. I have never had any major problems with my car and I love it!

I like the car, im a outdoors type of person and i can get a lot done with this car. I got a thule on it right now. Lost a lot of gas milage but who cares! If you drive a lot of HWY dont buy this car with a manual transmission. You need a 6th gear.

Oil changes are cheap. parts are cheap aswell if it breaks.
